Desktop is free forever. Prefer the Microsoft Store when available for a Microsoft-signed MSIX. GitHub Releases ship the NSIS installer and portable zip for early adopters.

Search for Persistent Sage in the Microsoft Store when the listing is live. Store installs update through the Store channel and use Microsoft signing.

Download PersistentSagePortable.zip from Releases, unzip, and runStart-Persistent-Sage-Portable.bat—not the raw .exe alone—so data stays next to the app.

Build from source

Clone the public repo, install Node LTS + Rust 1.77+, then runnpm install and npm run tauri dev. Linux and macOS builds are supported from source.

Android companion

Persistent Sage Mobile is in active development. Free tier + Premium are planned; no Play listing is published yet. Follow the public Android repo for progress.

Requirements

  • Windows 10/11 x64 for official installers
  • An AI provider account/API key, or local Ollama for offline inference
  • Disk space for the app plus your local data folder

About Windows SmartScreen. The direct-download NSIS installer may be unsigned. Windows can show a SmartScreen warning—choose More info → Run anyway if you trust the GitHub release. Microsoft Store MSIX builds are Microsoft-signed.

After install

  1. Complete the first-run wizard (storage location + provider).
  2. Paste your API key if using a cloud provider, or point at local Ollama.
  3. Start a chat with Sage, or create your own companion personality.
